Working in small basement was a 16 year old girl named Raeka. Ever since she she could remember, everyone in her family called her a genius. Truth be told, she does have a brilliant mind for a young girl. She can build things from scrap and into something fascinating. Once she develop her talent, she began to work alone, not wanting people to disturb her while she work on something random. But this time, she has something new up her sleeves.
The basement was filled previous random creations as holograms that feel solid to the touch to an actual mini toaster/oven. At the front end of the room was a long working desk that Raeka was using at the moment and at the corner, next to the window was her MP3/IPod player, which the volume was almost at the maximum. Raeka bobbed her head to the beat of the music as she work on her greatest design. A man-look a like robot. She began the blueprints of the robot when she was 12 and started working when she turned 13. Now, after 3 years of hard work, she is nearly done with her robot.
The robot was a cool gray color and he look like a robotic man. Due to the lack of equipment, her design wasn't as perfect or great as the robots that are being built nowadays. But that didn't stopped her. The robot, of course, had a male feature and it appears that he looks like a young adult, around 17 to 19. He had no noise but two optics that remind her of the old cartoon show known as Transformers but they looked more human in a way. He didn't really had a mouth, but he was able to speak through the little gap on his face. Like C-3PO from Star Wars. His neck was long and it was covered by a soft metal coding and inside his neck was wires upon wires. He had a chest and where his stomach should be was the same metal that protect the wires and his robotic skeleton. Same for his legs and feet but they had a harder metal over the soft metal, as goes for the arms and shoulders.
Raeka went to her laptop and took out a memory stick which would transfer all the data to his processor. Raeka opened the back of his head which she somewhat copied the idea from I,Robot but the inside was different though. It was more like looking inside a computer. She inserted the chip and there was a whirling sound. Once the whirring noises stop, she took out the memory chip and closed his skull. She went to his chest and found the small hatch that camouflage with his metal, just like Eve from Wall-E and she opened it. That was his 'heart' or the way to activate him. Only people with her exact DNA could turn him on or off. She placed her finger and his eyes began to glow. She closed the hatch and stand back, praying to any creator out there who was watching over her that her robot would come to life.
The robotic man shook his head a bit, blinked his eyes and look at her. She stared back and there was an awkward silence between the two. Finally, he spoke. "Hello Raeka, it's a pleasure to meet my creator." His mouth lit up everything he spoke a word. And his voice sound soft and smoothing.
A huge grin spread on her face. As she threw her arms up in the air, she yelled, "He lives!"
The robot tilt his head, showing her that he was confused. She covered her mouth in embarrassment and soon realized that her music was still playing. She quickly turn it off and went back to him. "Yes, I am Raeka and do you know where you are?"
"In the United States of America. Boston, address number 7892. The year is 2119 and it's April 3 and it's 5:14 in the afternoon."
She couldn't believe it. The data she inserted into his processor worked! This is great! The robot man saw that she was very excited and happy that she completed her work on bringing him to live and building her very own robot. If his mouth could move as lips, he would be smiling but he won't complain because he knows that she didn't have a lot of resources when she was building him but nonetheless, he was happy to see her overjoy.
"Okay...first things first, we need to name you."
"I know that I look and sound as a human male so why not give me a male name?"
"Yeah but I think it would be best that you decided that you should name yourself."
"But you are my creator."
"I know but I don't want to give you a name that you wouldn't like. Come on, can you stand up?"
He shift his feet and used his hands to support him. As he gain his balance, he took a step forward but he almost lost his balance until Raeka grab a hold of him and straighten him up. "Thank you." He said to her. "No problem. Here, let me help you."
"It is okay. I think I'm getting the hang of it."
"Alright then." But she kept a close eye on him to make sure that he doesn't fall over or trip on his own footing. She led him to her laptop and she found a website that showed baby names. She click the boys section and a huge list came out. "What little you want your name to start?"
"The letter D."
They scroll through until he ask her to stop. "That one." He pointed to the name and it was Dorian.
"Are you sure?" She asked and looked at him. He nod his head, "Alright. Dorian it is." She smiled at him. Dorian didn't know what he picked that name, It just had a nice ring to it. He watch his creator closed the tab and put her computer to sleep. Then there was a knock at the basement door and both look towards it.
"Honey, are you done down there? You know you have homework to do." It was her mother.
"I'm coming." She replied back and then she looked at Dorian. "Think I should show you to the family?"
"I think it will be for the best."
They went up the steps and Dorian couldn't help but get a nervous feelings. But he's a robot, robots don't have feelings. Unless it's his processor making him think that he actually has feelings. He slightly shook his head and Raeka opened the door. They entered the kitchen which was a normal size and at the end was a table. Her mother was working on the table, setting things up for dinner until she look up and gasped. Dorian took a step back but Raeka just gave him an encouraging smile.
"Dear Lord. Honey, you actually...oh my...Ray! Come here!" She called out to the father. The father, who was in the living, rush into the kitchen and saw his daughter standing next to her robot. He smiled at her little genius. "Looks like those years finally paid off."
"Yup! Oh, and his name is Dorian."
"It's a pleasure to meet the parents of my creator." Dorian said in a very polite voice.
"Likewise. Are you going to show Dorian to your brothers when they come back?"
"Of course." Raeka look towards Dorian. "I have two older brothers and they will be here shortly. Both are twins too and one is a thick skull while the other is more calm, kind of like you." Dorian nod his head, understanding what she's trying to warn him. Befriend them both and try not to anger the thick skull brother.
The mother cleared her throat. "Dinner will be done in a few minutes. Raeka, you still need homework to do."
She groan loudly. "I'll go do it right now. Umm, Dorian, do you mind helping my mom?"
"Of course, if your mother doesn't mind."
Her mother just smiled, showing that she doesn't mind at all. Raeka quickly went to her room so that she could get her homework out of her way.
Days passed and Dorian was getting comfortable in the house. The two brothers likes him but they kept a close eye on him for some unknown reason. It got him curious that he really wanted to ask Raeka. He usually stayed in the house, helping the mother or father while Raeka goes to school and the twins go to work. It kind of bothered him, he wanted to go out and see the city. And his wish was granted.
It was the weekend and Dorian was experiencing something wrong with some of his parts. Raeka who was in her room, heard him coming. He entered her room and by the squeaks his parts are making, she already noticed.
"There's something wrong with my parts."
Raeka was afraid of that. She tried her best to make the parts be fitting for his body but since she found them in a scrap heap and the parts were really old but those were the only good ones that she found. But now they're finally wearing down. She had to get new parts right away. But she had no money nor the parts whatsoever. Raeka explained the situation to him and he understood. He will have to be patient but he noticed that Raeka was upset with herself. He didn't like seeing her like that, he prefers a smile.
"Why not ask your father or brothers? I'm sure they'll gladly help."
Raeka sigh. "I don't like bothering them, especially about money. Besides, I'm growing up and I have to learn to be independent."
Dorian tilted his head and his shoulder slagged, causing it to make a squeaking noise. "But you're still so young. I think it's best for you not to start acting so mature at a young age."
Raeka couldn't argue with that because she knew he was right but as stubborn as she was, she decided to stick to her own plans. Dorian sat down at an empty chair and Raeka winced at the squeak sound his parts made. For a human, it was like having an injury. She couldn't stand it. It's her robot and yet she can't do anything about it.
"Alright, I'll ask my father if he can help."
Her father and the twins were able to add up enough money to buy some old model parts but much more better than the ones she used to make Dorian. And Dorian was pretty excited because he was getting new parts and he was finally going to see the city. He only knew a few things because of the data that was transferred into his brain but he was curious to know more.
The built/repair shop was a few blocks away and with the hustle and bustle of the street, the walk took longer. But Raeka didn't mind, that way she had time to talk to Dorian and explain things to him. They left the house and the roar of the city entered their ears. Dorian look around and notice all the different people, robots, buildings, and car in one glance. He just stood at the steps of the house in awe.
"Well? Aren't you coming?" Raeka, who was standing at the foot of the steps, called back at him.
He snap out of his daze and he quickly join Raeka. "Okay, first things first, stay close to me. I don't want you wondering around or stopping without me knowing."
They began their walk and Dorian gazed at the every robot that passed by them. Some were little while others were taller or fatter than him. Some with no legs while others had wheels on their feet. Some of the robots were wearing working clothing, like FedEx to USP while others were accompanying humans. As the two walk by, people did look at them for a split second and look ahead. Dorian felt a bit weird about them looking at him or Raeka but he kept quiet. The city had very high buildings and there were some cars driving on the ground while others on the air. There were bridges high up that connected the streets if the ground floor got too full. It was a cloudless day and the sun was high up.
"Anyway Dorian, what do you think of the city?"
"It's full...with lots of creators and creations. And I didn't imagine it to be so loud too."
"Yeah and I was thinking that you should be calling things by their names. The whole 'my creator' thing makes me feel a bit awkward. Okay?"
She smiled at him as he finally said her name. Raeka began to explain things about the city and the history to Dorian. He already knew some things about the city but not the minor details. But he was enjoying it nonetheless.
The crowd began to decrease and so did the buildings. Dorian was getting a bit nervous and he look down at Raeka but the look on her face said that they were going the right way. They made a corner and there was a small building at the end of the alley. They entered the store and it was filled with robotic parts. Arms, hands, feet, legs, torso, and heads plus the skeleton of the robots and the wires were on shelves, walls, and desks. Processor were behind a glass case.
Raeka put her thumb and index finger into her mouth and a loud whistle rang through the building. It went quiet and there was a loud crash from above and a loud, angry grunt. Heavy footsteps went away and a man came from the stairs.
Dorian quietly gasp at the sight of the man because his legs were robots and so was his eye. Two of his fingers on his right hand was gone. He was dressed in overalls and it was very dirty and oil was up to his knees and on his hands. His hair was tousled everywhere and he had very bad sideburns.
He look at Raeka and a huge grin appeared on his face. He had one gold tooth and five silver. And he then gave Raeka a huge bear hug. "Little Raeka! How's it going!?"
"Great. Now, can you let me go so that we can discuss business?"
"Oh, sure." He let go of Raeka and she introduced him to Dorian. "Dorian, this is Tony. He's the one who gave me your processor and skeleton."
"It's a pleasure to meet you." He said with a slightly nervous tone.
"Likewise and I always give a robot an uneasy feeling so I'm use to it. So kiddo, what do you need?"
Dorian raised his arm up and his parts made a very loud squeak sound.
"New parts are needed. So, how much money do you have?"
Raeka dig into her pocket and took out all her money. Tony began to count the money and Dorian began to look around.
I wonder what kind of part I will get? Would Raeka like the new parts on me?
"600 in total. Not enough to buy the newest model but you could buy the old model. Better than the ones you used to make Dorian. Alright kid and bot, follow me."
Raeka choice the parts and decided to put the parts on Dorian herself. Tony completely understand and he had other things to do. Raeka wanted to put the parts while they were at the shop. Dorian sat on a stool and Raeka carefully removed his old parts. Dorian watch her as she took off his old parts and put the new ones on him.
"You know kid, aren't you gonna get a new face for him? You know, add a nose or lips?"
Dorian's hopes rise because he wanted some lips so that he could show more expression.
"Not really unless you have a model that looks the same but newer."
Dorian's shoulder slagged a bit.
"Yeah I do. Give me a minute." With that, Tony left. Thirty minutes passed and Raeka finished replacing his parts. Tony finally arrived with the new face plate.
"Will this do?"
The face look the same, just more cleaner and not rusty.
The face was a bit more difficult to change but Raeka was able to do it. Dorian stood up and his parts didn't squeak but since his parts were new, he look new. His body look more human than before and he was more white than gray.
"You're all finished." said Raeka with a smile.
"That's great kid. Now, time to pay up."
After paying Tony, the two made their way home. But Raeka frown the fact that it was night time. Dorian saw her expression and ask, "Is something the matter?"
"It gets pretty bad in this part of the city at night. We should hurry home real quick."
The two speed walk down the street and the city lights were lit up with different colors. Raeka quickly grabbed Dorian's hand and he tilted his head. Ahead of them were human females dressed in very revealing clothing and smoking. Human males and robots were talking to them. Some of them entered the building in groups or pairs.
Without letting go of Dorian's hand, Raeka quicken her speed. They quickly walk through the group but Dorian felt someone grab his other hand.
"Hey there sweet thing. Where are you going?"
Before he could reply, Raeka butts in. "That's none of your business. Now let him go."
"Was I even talking to you? No and you're not the boss of me. Come on sweety, forget that girl and I'll give you a good time. You won't regret it." She said as she caressed his chest. For some reason, he actually felt her finger and he shiver. He controlled his body and cleared his throat.
"I am sorry but I prefer to be with Raeka instead of an unknown human." He said as he got his arm out of the woman's grip. This time, it was his turn to lead the way as they speed walk away from the group.
Dorian was sitting in the basement, which became his room, and couldn't stop thinking about the sensation he felt on his chest. It wouldn't leave his processor. It was bothering him. He placed his hand were that woman touched him and he shivered again.
Why is this happening to me? Why am I having these feelings? I'm a robot, I'm not supposed to have feelings.
He rubbed his head in thought then the basement door opened and Raeka walked in. She was feeling kind of worried for him since what happened at the brothel. She just wanted to make sure that he was doing okay. When they arrived at the house, he was quiet and just went to the basement. Raeka was in her room and was doing her homework but she just wanted to see if he was doing okay.
Dorian looked up at her and she stared back. She gave him a small smile but he looked away. Raeka frowned a bit but walked up to him. He didn't look up but he knew that she was there. Raeka sighed a bit and scratched the back of her neck.
"Dorian, if there anything that bothering you, please tell me. I do worry about you."
He didn't say anything nor looked up. Raeka was getting a bit irritated but didn't pushed it."I guess I'll just leave you alone until you feel better."
Raeka turned away and head towards the door. Dorian slightly looked up. "Feel." He look at Raeka and she look back.
"Why is it that I could 'feel' as if I were human? Is it because all that data you put in my processor and it's making thinking that I have 'feelings' or that I can 'feel'?"
Raeka was kind of stunned that he asked her that question. Even she didn't had an answer. He waited for her to answer his question but he knew, by the look on her face, she didn't had any. So he continued talking.
"When that woman touched me, my whole body shivered. And now, I can still feel her hand on me. I don't know what this feeling means. Please Raeka, what's happening to me."
The tone in Dorian's voice showed that he was worried and scared maybe. Raeka walked back to him and sat down next to him. This is going to be a long night of explaining.
Raeka was slightly embarrassed when she brought up the emotions of love and lust. She wouldn't stop blushing but she kept on talking. Dorian had no problem understanding that emotion but he began to wonder was it lust that he felt when that woman touch him. Well, that lady was very unattractive but maybe the desire to be touched like that again is what he wanted. But after a night of learning all kinds of emotions, Dorian's processor was cleared now. Now he would know what type of emotions he will be feeling. But one question still remains; why does he have emotions?
But he didn't wanted to bother Raeka since she was sleeping pleasantly on the coach that was in the basement. Dorian quietly retrieved her quilt from her room and brought it to the basement so that she wouldn't be cold. He softly placed it on her and she cuddled up to the warmth. If Dorian had lips, he would be smiling.
She looks so adorable when she's sleeping.
He placed his metal hand on her the side of her face and softly rumb his thumb on her cheek. Then he felt a tingling feeling inside of him and he slowly pulled his hand away.
Why did I just do that for? And what was that tingling sensation that I just had right now?
He felt so warm and fuzzy inside and he gazed back at Raeka.
She look so peaceful and happy.
Love is an emotion of a strong affection and personal attachment. Love is also a virtue representing all of human kindness, compassion, and affection; and "the unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another". Love may also be described as actions towards others or oneself based on compassion, or as actions towards others based on affection. At least that's what Wikipedia said.
I-I can't be falling in love with Raeka. She's my creator! And she's human! It's not right! Then again...those robots and the brothel...no no! I can't think like that! It will upset Raeka!
He stared at her sleeping form and he began to feel that tingling sensation inside of him. He quickly but quietly left the room, away from Raeka.
Raeka noticed Dorian acting a bit strange the past week. He wouldn't talk to her much like before and it seemed that he was keeping his distance from her. He acts the same with her parents and sibling but not the same with her. Raeka started to get worried and wants to confront him about it but she doesn't want to make him feel uncomfortable.
But I have to.
After her mother went to go buy groceries, Raeka thought it was the perfect moment to corner Dorian and make him talk. Plus, her father was at work and so were her brothers so it was only her and Dorian in the house. Raeka last saw Dorian was upstairs, near the attic. So she made her way there. But she was quiet about it. She took soft, slow steps, making sure her robot doesn't hear her coming. She peeked inside and saw him starring outside the small window. He was distracted by the people and robots down in the streets. So Raeka stepped inside, close the door and locked it. Dorian turned around in surprise and stared at her.
"What are you doing?"
"I want to talk to you. Why are you distancing yourself from me?"
Dorian looked down and then turned away from her. "I don't want to talk about it."
"Well too bad. I want to know. I have the right to know. Please, tell me Dorian."
Raeka grumbled and walk up to him. Dorian heard her footsteps getting closer to him and began to get nervous.
No! I have to stay away from her!
Before Raeka couldn't stop in front of him, Dorian quickly walk past her and was heading straight for the door. Raeka saw that and ran to the door. She stood right in front of the door, blocking his path.
"Raeka, please move."
"You are not leaving until you tell me what's wrong. Did I do something wrong?"
"No. You didn't do anything. It's..it's.."
"What is it? Tell me!"
Dorian stared at Raeka's face and absorbed all her details. Then his gaze went down from her head to her feet. He then look at her again. He raised both of his hands and place them on the door, side by side of her shoulders. Raeka gasped at that sudden action. She look back at him and saw that they made eye contact. Dorian has been holding these feelings in but now, he couldn't any longer.
He leaned in, his forehead touching her's and his cool, metallic body touching her warm, fleshy body. Raeka was taken back and tried to move her body but his body pinned her against the door.
"D-Dorian..wh-what are you doing?"
But he didn't answer but then she gasp as he began to grind his body against her's. Raeka blushed and tried pushing him away but he was far too strong. "Dorian! S-stop it!"
Dorian's hands slid down the door and found its way around her waist. He pulled her closer and began to grind faster. He laid his head on her shoulder and listening in to her breathing. He noticed that it was fast and so was her heart beat. She was actually aroused.
But he kept on going.
"I SAID STOP IT!"
Dorian's optics widen and he pushed himself away from her. Raeka's body shivered, feeling the pleasure she felt running through her whole body. She actually enjoyed it but it was not right.
"W-what have I done?....WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?!" Dorian ran towards the small window and leapt through it. Raeka gasped and ran towards the window and saw him running away. A crowd separated itself from him as he ran off. Then everyone and bot stared up at the window and Raeka quickly hide herself.
Raeka ran out of her house, with a hoodie on and began her wide search for Dorian. She asked the people and robots in the area if they seen him. Some saw him running but didn't know where he was headed. He just ran. Raeka was worried for him because he hardly left the house and getting lost in a metropolis city was practically suicide! But she won't quit so easily.
She searched any place that might catch his attention. If she didn't see him there, then she would ask the people in that area. Most people saw Dorian but again, they didn't know where he was going.
The sun was gone and the moon appeared and Raeka had no choice but to head back. When she arrived home, her parents and siblings were already there. Raeka was being embraced by her mother while her father questioned her. They were all wondering where she had went.
Raeka didn't dare to stare at them so she looked at their feet. "Dorian ran away. So I went to look for him."
"Why would he run away? Did something happened?"
Raeka remembered what happened in the attic and she began to blush. She couldn't tell her family about that or they'll destroy Dorian! She couldn't let that happen. "I-I don't know why he ran away. But I'm not giving up. I will find him."
And with that, she ran to her room.
The sun barely raised and Raeka was already dressed up for her citywide search for Dorian. She already ate breakfast and had her inline skates on. She rail down the railing and started skating through the city. She had a city map at hand and had her cell phone just in case her parents or siblings had to contact her. She first went to the places that she was familiar with and asked around but nothing. Time passed by and Raeka was almost at the outskirts of the city. She sat down on a hill and took a breather.
Damn it Dorian. Where are you?
Then she heard an alarm going off and she saw a factory. The factory was were they recycle machinery and make new parts for practically anything. For some reason, she got a dreaded feeling so she quickly made her way there. Of course Raeka couldn't barge through the front door so she found another way in. An air vent. It was quite big and wide so she could actually crawl on her knees. To be honest, she had no idea where she was going but just listen to the noises, which was dumb of her to think since she was surrounded by noises. But she stayed clear from human voices.
Then the shaft underneath her fell and Raeka landed on the ground. She rub her arms and knees but stood up. She ended up in a hallway and to her luck, she was alone. Raeka skated down the hallway, passing doors but one door caught her attention. Recycle Center. She entered the room and she entered another room with bullet proof glass walls. On the other side of the wall were huge machines that were crushings metal into squares. It was like two football fields in one area.
Then something caught Raeka's attention. It was Dorian! He was standing on a railing where the metal was dropped into the crusher and he was staring at it. Then Raeka realized what he was planning.
"Don't do it Dorian!"
But the noise from the machines blocked her voice and he didn't hear her. There wasn't a door that led to the machines but there was a control box but she couldn't open it. Raeka quickly grabbed one of her inline skates and began to smack it against the glass wall. The glass was thicker than she thought but she kept on going, smashing it even harder. Then, an actual crack was formed on the wall and the alarms began to go off. But she couldn't stop now. She smack the glass even harder and then a hole was formed, big enough for her to go through it. As she carefully crawl through, she yelled at it.
"Don't jump Dorian!!"
Finally, Dorian heard her voice and before he could jump, he stumbled to gain his balance and when he did, he stared at her. "What are you doing?!"
She made her way up to him by climbing these latter that was connected to the machines and she got on the railing. "Isn't it obvious? I'm taking you home."
"But why? I did...I did something no robot should do. Especially to a human!"
Raeka glared at him and went up to him. She grabbed him by the arm and spun him around, away from the crusher.
"First of all, get away from that crusher. You're making me panic. And second, robots nowadays are trying to find ways to be more human. They want to be like humans. So it's no surprise that you want to like my kind."
"But..but it's not right..."
Raeka smack him on the head. "Listen. For ages, humans have been trying to become more God-like. Sure, it's not right and might end our race but that didn't stop us. And look where we are. It's the same thing with robots. Robots are like the humans while the humans to them are Gods."
Raeka cut his sentence off by grabbing his face and placing her lips on his flat mouth. His body tense but soon relax. He wrapped his arms around her and hug her. Raeka blushed as she remember their little scene in the attic so she slowly pulled back. Dorian stared at her and notice her slight discomfort.
"I'm so sorry about what happened in the attic. I didn't do it just to pleasure myself but...because I want to be with you."
"It's okay and besides, I'm starting to really like you. A lot. More than just friends. I guess my family is right. I'll fall in love with a machine than an actual boy."
He chuckled and embraced her and she hugged back. But then the ground below them began to shake violently as the the crusher was going to crush another pile of metal. They made a run for it but Raeka lost her balance and fell over the railing and landed in a pile of metal. Then a huge crane grabbed a huge pile of trash, along with her. Dorian jump down and began to chase the crane but he couldn't reach her. Then the crane released the pile of trash on a belt and the belt began to move. Raeka sat up and she saw metallic piece being lifted up by a magnet and so was she. Her only inline skate had metal on and in it and so was her belt necklace and wristband.
Dorian was about to step on the belt but Raeka stopped him.
"It's a magnet! If you get too close, you'll get stuck!"
"What should I do then?!"
"There was a control box on the other side of the glass! Open it and it will stop everything! Hurry!"
And Raeka disappeared from Dorian's sight.
Dorian ran to the control box. While he was going that, Raeka and the other pieces of metal was lead to one to the crushers and they were released in one. More and more pieces of metal fell and Raeka made sure that she stayed on top of the pile. But then a huge metal piece fell and she had no place to run so she had to dive into the metal pile. The huge metal piece crushed underneath the pile and it was hard for her to get out.
Then she heard the crusher activating and the pieces were getting closer to her.
Please hurry Dorian!
Dorian finally reach the glass and jump right through the hole Raeka created and landed in the hallway. Before he could run to the control box, guards with guns burst in.
But Dorian didn't obey and ran to the control box. The guards open fire and one of the bullets hit his leg, blocking the processor sending signals to move that leg. Dorian fell but quickly got up and hop to the control box. Another bullet his other leg but Dorian was able to reach the box in time. He used one hand to hold on the box and use his other hand to rip the lead off. There was a lever and he reach for it. But when he grasped the lever, a bullet went through his head and everything went black for him.
Dorian's lifeless body fell down and the lever was lowered. All the machines slowed to a stop. Raeka yelled in pain as a metal piece pierced her leg. The guards heard her cry and ran to her. They carefully pulled her out and stop the bleeding by wrapping a ripped cloth from one of the guard's uniform on her wound.
"W-where's Dorian? Where's my robot?"
The guards looked at each other and look back at her. "We're sorry but we thought that he was an intruder so we shot at him. But now we know that he was trying to save your life."
"No..no he can't be dead! You gotta take me to him! Please!"
"But your injury?"
"Forget about it! I gotta save him!"
The guards did what she asked and took her to her robot.
Raeka sat in her room, her leg all better but she had a long scar where the stitches were at. She was holding the memory chip that thank God wasn't damaged and his power core which was slightly damaged. She stared at them and remembered when she first activated him and having him name himself. It's been months now and she finally told her family what actually happened. Of course her hot headed brother was really upset and was tempting to punch a hole in the wall. Her other brother and her father was slightly disgusted and angered and her mother was very disappointed.
But during the mothers of recovery, they all noticed that Raeka actually fell in love with Dorian and that she misses him. All four of them began to discuss a plan among themselves.
One day, Jeffery, the calm twin, entered her room and told her that Tony wanted her at his shop right away. Raeka put on her shoes and grabbed her messenger bag, where she kept Dorian's memory chip and power core. Every time she went somewhere, she would always bring those two items, making her feel like if he was with her.
Raeka entered his shop and saw Tony sitting on a stool, cleaning his tools. He looked up, put down his tool and cleaner and went up to her. Raeka stared up at him.
"I know what happened with Dorian. And I'm sorry."
"It's okay." she said as she averted his gaze.
"No, it's not okay." he placed a huge hand on her shoulder and she look at him again. "You got stop lying to yourself. You can't have to keep all your emotions bottled in. If you don't release your emotions, then you're just hurting yourself from the inside out." He embraced her. "It doesn't matter if you cry. No one won't make fun of you or anything. Besides, crying cleans the soul. So cry."
Raeka tried holding in the tears but then they began to trail down and more and more kept coming. She buried her face on his oil dirty shirt and hugged him and weep. She would call of Dorian's name and curse the guards at the factory. The tears last for almost an hour but she would hiccup and sniff while Tony gave her some tissue.
"Is..is this why you called me here? To make me release my emotions?"
"That and something else."
Raeka stared at him as he stood up and went down the hallway and up the stairs. Raeka heard several footsteps coming down and she saw her family!
"Mom? Dad? Bros? W-what are you doing here?"
"During your recovery, we all saw how depressed about Dorian's death and we finally realized that you loved him dearly." Her mother said.
"So we all agreed that we should buy him a body since we saw that you saved his memory chip and power core." Her father continued.
"So while you were recovering in bed, we work harder than ever to gain extra money so that we could buy him a new and improved body." John said.
"But we weren't able to get enough money for the newly design but this design is twice better than his first model." Jeffrey finished.
Tony pulled out a huge life size case and opened it, revealing a human-like robot. Raeka gasped at how new the body look. She grabbed her messenger bag and pulled out his memory chip. "Will it work?"
"It should. Now what are you waiting for? Don't you want Dorian back?" Tony asked.
"Of course! I'm just..nervous."
"Come on sis. Everything will be okay." Jeffrey reassure her.
Tony opened the robot skull and through the wires was an small hatch. Inside the hatch was an area where you input the memory chip. Raeka inserted the chip and Tony inserted the power core, which he had fix a few months ago. After closing the hatches and sealing it with the robotic shell, Raeka activated him.
There was the whirling noise and he opened his eyes. His body light up a bit and he slowly sat up. He look up and his eyes met Raeka's eyes.
"Raeka!" He tried standing up but his legs gave up on him. Raeka quickly caught him and help him up. While Raeka was supporting him, Dorian hugged her. "Raeka. I missed you so much."
"I miss you too."
Raeka then notice her family smiling but began to leave, giving them some space and time to themselves. Tony also did the same.
"For I second, I thought I actually died. Everything was so dark and scary and I thought...I thought I would never see you again."
"So did I. Your body was badly damaged and I didn't had the money to buy you any new parts. And my family spent most of their money on my surgery."
Dorian pulled back and smiled at her. Again, he put his forehead on her's and had a confused look on his face. "Why are you crying?"
"I'm crying because I'm so happy to see you."
He smiled even more and planted a soft kiss on her. He was actually surprised to feel it. As though he was human.
Apparently, his new body has a separate design box the lets him feel things that his body comes contact with. Similar to the nerves on the human body but it was quite different and complicated on a robot.
Raeka gladly accepted his kiss and she hugged him back. After their kissing moment, they smiled at each other, knowing that they have a new beginning with one another.
(sucky ending, I know. But who cares?)
